योगश्चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः ॥२॥  1. 2 Yogaś-citta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ.

“Yoga is experienced in that mind which has ceased to identify itself with its vacillating waves of perception.” ~ Stiles

“Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations or whirlings of the mind.” Jivamukti Yoga by Sharron Gannon and David Life

Artwork thoughts:  The background imagery is an ordinary photo of a Hawaiian wave, mirrored upon the vertical.  Much like our own thoughts, the ocean’s surface is often turbulent with its waves crashing upon the shores but as we dive deeper into the ocean’s depth, we find stillness.  The spiraling mandala radiating outward from the head, illustrates the constraint of thoughts within an organizing pattern.  These emanating white lines illustrate the gaps in those thoughts or “cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.”
